Claim Procedures

You can report a claim directly by using the toll-free numbers listed below. Also refer to the On-line Services tab for information about on-line claims reporting.

 

If you have a claim:

  • Make only those repairs necessary to prevent further damage to your home or business. This includes covering breaks in roofs, walls or windows with plywood, canvas or another waterproof material. For water extraction call ESR (800) 449-9527

 

  • Keep receipts for all expenditures incurred in repairing damages or estimating the extent of damages.

 

  • Wait for an insurance adjuster to arrive to appraise damages – the companies schedule adjusters so that the most serious losses get priority treatment.

 

  • Prepare a detailed inventory of all damaged or destroyed personal property. Give the inventory list to the adjuster and keep a copy for your records. The list should include: a description of each item, the quantity if more than one, the date of purchase or approximate age of the item, and the estimated cost to replace it.

 

  • Take photographs of damaged areas to your home or business to assist the adjuster.
