Several years ago, I became aware of the high risk of heart disease in women. Since that time I have witnessed first hand the benefits of excellent medical care when friends, family and colleagues have experienced serious heart conditions. That is why for the past three years, I have been a member of the American Heart Association’s Circle of Red.
Not only do I keep abreast of how to have a healthy heart, I have connected with a group of women who want to make a difference in the lives of other women. Please contact me if you want to learn more about Go Red for Women. laurae@eidsoninsurance.com
In the meantime, join us in celebrating National Wear Red Day.

The list of government requirements related to human resources and health insurance plans gives businesses plenty of opportunities for compliance. Our Employee Benefits Compliance Chart will help you navigate the various notice and disclosure rules.
Two annual notice requirements specific to health insurance that should be provided to all employees are:
Annual CHIP Notice to ensure that employees are aware of low-income premium assistance subsidies. The model notice shows which states offer premium assistance and includes Florida as one of these states.
Medicare D Creditable or Non-Creditable Coverage ito notify individuals whether their employer sponsored prescription drug plan is at least as good as the Medicare Part D coverage. The insurance carrier provides a determination of comparable coverage. However, plans with a high deductible that applies to the prescription drug coverage will most likely be non-creditable coverage.
Other notices include 2 one-time notices related to health care reform that should have been provided to your employees at you last insurance renewal date:
Enrollment of dependent coverage up to age 26
Enrollment of no lifetime maximum benefit
Model notices can be found at http://www.dol.gov/ebsa/healthreform/
Plus, certain events or conditions may trigger additional notices. We recommend that you review the Compliance Chart to determine whether any would apply to you.
On the horizon … the DOL is proposing a regulatory agenda to develop a “culture of compliance” called Plan/Prevent/Protect. More to come if developments occur.
